It's a boy! Fredrik Utne
McKibben joined our family on June 16th at 2:40am. He weighed in
at 4240g (9lb 5oz) and was 53cm (20½") long. He is pictured here at age 15
hours, together with big sister Hannah. (Ingrid was away for the weekend.)

On Tuesday, August 20, 1996 the University of Bergen
awarded 22 honorary doctorates as part of their 50th
anniversary celebration. Queen Sonja of Norway was
invited as the guest of honor at the ceremony awarding
these honorary doctorates. The university has one
preschool for children of its employees, and so
the preschool was asked
to greet the queen on her arrival. This was
done with flags and balloons and fantastic weather.

Once the queen arrived, Ingrid (the oldest child in
the preschool) presented
Queen Sonja with a bouquet of flowers.
"She was a nice lady," said Ingrid. (The girls'
dresses were sewn by their Grandma in America.)
